The worker bees over at Amazon are developing a new way to improve delivery time, called Prime Air. They have their convenient money saving Amazon Prime 2-day shipping service with no minimum order price required, and the recent Mayday feature from their Kindle Fire HDX tablets that seeks to connect you with a real person you can see via webcam in 15 seconds right on the tablet. They posted on their Facebook page the following:

"We’re excited to share a future delivery system we’re working on – it’s called Prime Air. The goal is to get packages into customers' hands in 30 minutes or less using unmanned aerial vehicles."

Amazon says it will take years to get the right technology and FAA regulations to make it possible. The service seeks to shave delivery times to 30 minutes or less, if it is ever implemented, which would be quite amazing. Due to the weight limitations of the small UAVs I'm assuming it would only work for light items. A UAV would also be limited in its flight range so it will likely only be offered to customers who are close to a warehouse. If anything it's an interesting idea from Amazon and shows the amazing things technology can do for customer service.
